Discover Hvar

Welcome to Hvar, Croatia’s trendiest summer destination, an ultimate must-be spot on a travel map for demanding international travellers looking for an unforgettable combination of crystal clear sea, sun, beaches, nightlife, adventure and heritage. Scroll down and find out what the world is saying about Hvar.

The island Hvar is famous for its pleasant Mediterranean climate characterized by gentle winters, warm summers and many hours of sunshine (annual average of 7.7 hours of sunshine per day and as many as 2843 hours of sun per year) which makes it the sunniest place in Europe.

This uniquely sunny microclimate, unspoiled landscape, and rich cultural heritage made Hvar one of the first tourist resorts in the Adriatic (the tradition of tourism on the island of Hvar is 140 years old). Rich with a variety of Mediterranean trees and plants, Hvar is a place where the air is perpetually thick with scent. In fact, many visitors cite the “air”, as being one of their most memorable experiences on the island. Indeed spring smells of lush pine forests while the summer air brings a cocktail of wild mint, sage, oregano, lavender, wild oranges and lemons. Among Hvar’s delicacies you can find aromatic goat cheese, cold mint teas, coriander and sage syrup, pepper cakes, dried almond stuffed figs, “prošek” - sweet nectar wine, some of the best Croatian wines and extra virgin olive oil.

Due to its geographical position Hvar was a place at the important sea route since the ancient times, where different cultures interweaved and influenced each other, and finally left traces to the present day.Undeniably some of the most beautiful sights from those times are 13thcentury Arsenal, 15th century Franciscan Monastery and Town Loggia, 16th century Fortress and St. Stephen's Cathedral, Venetian streets, the first communal theatre in Europe built in 17th century, and many more.

Over the past few years, Hvar has become an exclusive destination, attracting celebrities such as Beyoncé and Jay-Z, Prince Harry, Tom Cruise, Steven Spielberg, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kevin Spacey, Eva Longoria and Tony Parker, Solange, etc. More and more people from all over the world are coming to Hvar for the greatest parties in the Adriatic. So, put your party groove on, chill out in Hvar’s turquoise sea, rest on amazing beaches and dance the nights away!
